Bike week from June 13 - June 21

Lancaster City Council is inviting you to get on your bike and join its Cycling Demonstration Town (CDT) Team in celebrating National Bike Week.  This year's Bike Week runs from 13 to 21 June and promises to be another action packed week of free cycling events for all.

Friday 12 - Cycling Roadshow, Market Square, Lancaster
To whet your appetite for the week ahead why not visit the CDT Team’s pre Bike Week Cycling Roadshow between 12 and 4pm. Here you’ll be able to pick up lots of advice and information and have your bike checked out by Dr Bike ahead of the celebrations.

Saturday 13 - Sustrans work day
Mark the start of Bike Week by joining Sustrans as they spring clean the national cycling and walking network and encourage people to make the most of their local routes and support their work as a charity.
Meet on the Greenway (Lancaster to Morecambe cycle path) by Millennium Bridge at 9.45am.

Sunday 14 - 'Bike 'n' Brunch' guided ride
An easy family friendly bike ride along one of the district's prettiest cycle paths to the Crook O’Lune (and back).
Enjoy a snack from Woody’s whilst enjoying the view or bring your own picnic. Free drink courtesy of the CDT Team.
Meet 11am at Millennium Bridge, Lancaster.


Wednesday 17 - Bike 2 Work Day
Breakfast on the Bridge
Commute to work and pick up some free breakfast at the Millennium Bridge in Lancaster between 7 and 9am. The CDT team will be on hand to offer a range of information and advice.
'Plus one' Commuter Challenge
Want to win a brand new bike worth £300 or maybe £200 in cycle gift vouchers? All you need to do is enter our 2009 'Plus One' Commuter Challenge which runs throughout the week. The CDT Team are looking to regular cycle commuters to encourage one other person to give it a go during the week. Both the regular and new commuter being entered into a fantastic prize draw. Thursday 18 - Twenty Club!
The very first ride of Lancaster's new bike club. This is an informal meeting of cyclists who want to go on a slightly more challenging ride locally (approx twenty miles). Route to be confirmed soon. Everyone welcome.
Please note that these are not led rides - cyclists ride at their own risk.
Meet 6pm at Millennium Bridge, Lancaster

Friday 19 - After Work Bike Ride
Join the CDT Team for a fun evening bike ride to try out the local cycle network and also a local pub.

Saturday 20 - Women's Bike Maintenance Day at Pedal Power, Ridge Square, Lancaster
Basic bike maintenance course in the morning followed by a 'hotbench' fix your own bike session in the afternoon.
Come along with your mothers, daughters, friends and colleagues to share your skills and learn new ones.

Sunday 21 - Biking in Bowland
A circular ride through the lanes and byways of the district, calling at Conder Green, Galgate and Caton. This ride involves both on and off road riding (as well as some hills). Approx 20 miles. Please bring water and lunch.
