Get more out of life - live local, get cycling!

Bike Week is the biggest nationwide cycling event in the UK. A national celebration of cycling, Bike Week helps you get more out of life - by getting on your bike and exploring your local community.

New for 2009, Bike Week focuses on encouraging families to taking up cycling as a regular activity in their local community. Bike Week is the time to "live local and get cycling."

Bike Week is free to enter and open to everyone - you can either take part in an event or organise one yourself, you don't have to be an experienced cyclist either, anyone can set up a Bike Week event.

Win a Center Parcs mid-week or weekend break!
Center Parcs has once again teamed up with Bike Week in 2009 to offer a lucky winner a break for the family at the one of the UK's favourite action holiday resorts. The prize consists of a midweek or weekend break for the family of up to six, in a 3-bedroom woodland lodge in Sherwood Forest in Nottingham Forest, Elveden Forest in Suffolk, Longleat Forest in Wiltshire, or Whinfell Forest in Cumbria.

As part of Bike Week Garstang Cycling Club are organising a charity bike ride suitable for all ages and abilities. This ride will be along dedicated cycle paths and participants can choose to cycle either 12 miles or 25 miles.

The route will take you along the Lune cycle path to either the Historic port of Glasson or to the picturesque scenery of the Crook of Lune. You can if you wish do the complete route and take in all the splendours this ride has to offer.

Cost of entry is £5 with all proceeds going to the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital. For any rider who raises a minimum of £10 sponsorship entry will be free.

The ride will start from Our Lady’s Catholic College at 11am, where there will be car parking, changing facilities and refreshments. From here it is just a short ride to the Millennium Bridge where you can then join the cycle path to either the Crook of Lune or Glasson.

As a club, safety of riders is paramount, for this reason participants under the age of 18 must wear a helmet and we encourage all riders to wear a helmet. Riders under the age of 18 must obtain signed parental consent prior to the ride. All riders under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
